Kandawygyi Lake is situated in the west of Than Lyet Maw, in Chan Mya Thazi Township. It is very beautiful place to visit, with breezes that instantly cool you down from the Mandalay heat.  There are many places around the lake to eat, relax and have fun. Here are a few of our favourite places.

Dandari Restaurant
Decorated like an ancient royal palace, this restaurant makes you feel like a King or Queen.  They serve a variety of Thai and Chinese curries, and BBQ is also available. Football matches are shown on Saturday and Sunday on a big screen, and there is a karaoke room for those who wish to exercise their lungs. They open from 10am to 10pm every day.

Emperor
The entrance is lined with paper lanterns bringing the feeling of the Thadingyut Festival. They also have a regular unplugged band playing great music everyday except Saturday. Chinese, Thai and BBQ are served here. They open from 10 am to 10 pm every day.

Kandawgyi Mini Golf Course
On an island surrounded by water, this restaurant has a mini golf course – great for those who wish to test out their golf skills or for parents who want their children to be occupied while they have a relaxing meal! Chinese and Thai curries are available.

Thiri Thukha Hot Pot
Famous for their hotpot cooked by their Chinese chef in the same style as that found in Xichun State in China. They also have a great range of curries such as jungle fowl curry, fried Khaw Pote and soured prawn curry. They are open from 11am to 11pm daily.

Green Restaurant
Small private wooden terraces set on stilts high above the water give a unique dining experience. The restaurant also has a huge garden area, perfect for kids to run about, and a great location for large dinner parties. European, Chinese, Thai and Myanmar curries are available, served by waiters dressed in Shan costumes. It opens from 10am to 10pm daily.

Royal Lake/ PyiGyi Mon Barge
A restaurant set on a royal barge which is a copy of the one used by  King Aloung Sithu when he travelled along the inland waters of Myanmar. Tables are set out on the boat or in the garden area. They have an unplugged show every evening apart from Monday and sell mainly Chinese food.  It is open from 9am to 10pm.

Smart Garden
Thatched pavilions are set along the lakeside providing a perfect place to relax and eat their tasty Chinese and Thai food.  They are open from 10am to 10pm.
